Kelly and I camped all over West Texas last week and we wanted to share our journey with you. If you follow us on Instagram you probably have already seen some of the places we hit up. If not you can start now @buenobrandi @iheartbueno #buenosjourneywest

We've had a lot of requests for specific posts so we will do our best to answer all your West Texas questions.

I wanted to start our series of posts with Camp Hair and give you the facts /// Kelly and I only washed our hair once the whole 8 days we were gone. How you ask? Braids. Kelly would braid our hair when we hiked so that it would stay out of our face and so we could stay cool. When your hair is down or in a top knot you tend to run your hands through it and keep putting it up over and over again which causes your hair to be more greasy. Oil on your hands, oil to your hair. We did the triple braid on Kelly after we washed our hair for a couple different reasons. While your hair is drying it doesn't frizz and when you decide to take it out you will have a pretty wave without having to use a hot tool. Two, hair is once again out of your face and you don't have to mess with it for as long as you decide to wear it. Three.. you look super stylish so you can go from camping/hiking to catching happy hour at the closest town, which in our case was Starlight in Terlingua (get the spicy margs). Kelly kept these braids in at least 3 days. They survived hiking, sleeping, happy hour, swimming the Rio Grande, hiking some more and, a long ass road trip home.

Tips /// always pack a brush, detangler, bobby pins, clear elastics, bandanas, hats, dry shampoo, travel size shampoo and conditioner.

Also this hair is not just for camping, this would be a perfect style for everyday....especially from gym to work to happy hour.

If you have any requests for posts or questions please leave a comment :) Happy Friday!

OREGON COAST ///

IMG_1163.JPG

This was my first time in Oregon and I absolutely fell in love. Living in Houston you can forget that places like this really exist. Don't get me wrong I love Houston, Texas but it was nice to get away and just live at a slower pace with beautiful scenery. There was no agenda in Oregon except for Kelly and Seth to get married and that they did!!! Post coming soon I promise. But...This particular day was the last day we spent in Oregon. The family went to The Redwoods to hike around but Jacob and I took off a little early to take Mike back to the super small airport. If you saw our snapchat/IG stories I'm sure you saw how amused we were by it and by Mike. After dropping him off we made a quick decision to head to the beach instead of driving back to the woods. It was just what we needed to recharge. After being around my family 24-7, whom I love with all my heart, I just wanted to enjoy some one on one time with my Love. I felt like this was really the only time we got to hang out with each other. It may sound silly but since my sister and I don't live near each other anymore and since this was her wedding trip I was just focused on her and spending as much time with her as possible. And Jacob well his focus was on everything and everyone else, making sure the week and wedding went smooth for the bride and groom. He's really good at that sort of thing. I'm so glad we had this moment together to soak it all in and talk about our favorite parts of the trip. His favorite part of the trip was off shore fishing with the boys and our peaceful drive through The Redwoods. My favorite part of the trip was that my whole immediate family was together on vacation, in one house. This hasn't happened since the late 90's! Divorced parents ya know...sucks but it just felt good to know we are still a family even though my parents are not together.

If you were following our stories and snapchat what was your favorite thing to watch? I'm curious for future travels. What would you like to see more of? What do you not care to see? We have two trips coming up in November and hopefully I can be on top of it! Any guesses where we are headed?

Since moving into our new place in June we haven't had much time to really make it what we want. I would say that the only two rooms that get any attention is the downstairs Guest Room and the Living Room.. and neither one is 100 percent but I'm okay with that. As long as our guests feel comfortable and we have a place to hang we are happy. Lets be honest though most the time we are in the Kitchen!

When people ask what our decorating style is I really don't know how to answer that. I want our home to feel like the first home my parents ever bought. Lots of light, huge windows, tons of space, not a lot of furniture to fill up the space but just enough, high ceilings, records playing, minimal and airy. The house was always filled with family and friends and there was just so much love and laughter. I like the idea of not filling up the space just to have stuff. That makes me feel claustrophobic. I want everything we own to have a purpose or meaning behind it.

I've had so many requests to see inside our place so I decided to start with the living room. It's not perfect but so far it has many of the things that remind me of my childhood home.

CHAIRS - I bought these from Andrew Modern they are close friends and  they are originals but here is a link  (SIMILAR TO)

SOFA

RECLINER - Never in my life would I think to get a recliner in my house but this one doesn't look big and bulky like an old man chair. It's def a favorite choice to sit on when people come over.

MEDIA CONSOLE

RUG

COFFEE TABLE - I got this at a local shop called Native Citizen but I have no idea what it's called so if you know please let me know.

PLANTERS

MAGAZINE RACK - My Aunt Gayle gave me this a few years back and I absolutely love it! It's the perfect way to display my coffee table books.

LARGE PEACOCK CHAIR - Another treasure available @TheBohoStow or click on link for more options.

VINTAGE PLANTER- Follow my friend Cheryl on IG @TheBohoStow to buy this one or click on link for other options

RECORD PLAYER

PINEAPPLE TRAYS

BOOK SHELF and SURFBOARD - We found these at Reeves Antiques. This place is full of awesome unique pieces and people always want to know about them.

FACETED TERRARIUMS - We have not planted anything in it yet we have so many things to pot first!

GUITAR - Gift from my Grandma Nolene and Aunt Vicki When I was in 8th Grade. I wanted to be like Sheryl Crow and Courtney Love...

PLANTS - Buchanan's, Home Depot, Cactus King (cash only), Ikea, my mom will bring a pinch from her plants over and grow a new one for me, Friends and Family have gifted me some awesome pencil plants. Seriously giving someone or growing someone a plant is the best gift ever!
