For Jacobs birthday we celebrated by camping out at Carlsbad Beach with a group of 10. Jacob, Kylle, Elliott and I went earlier than everyone else to set up. While we pitched our tent (can you believe we checked this), the three of us had a drink and watched the sunset, it was kinda perfect. We totally forgot a flashlight or lantern so we just used the flashlight on our phone for the table so we could see the food. Once the campfire was going we were good on heat and light. Then the group started trickling in and we feasted on hot dogs, sausage and booze. Camping always makes food taste better, doesn't it?

Were we prepared for the night? Maybe in the food and wine department but in the blanket department.... NO WAY! We froze our buns off. Elliott (The big fluffy dog) was sleeping on my legs and I couldn't get any blanket from Kylle and Haley so Jacob and I just cuddled and shivered all night but you know what no biggie, it made for hilarious conversations in the middle of the night and in the morning. Oh and since we were not in Texas with all our own camping gear we slept on the ground with a sheet...that's right... like rocks in our hips kind of camping.

The next morning we woke up with sore bodies to the beautiful sound of the ocean and enjoyed just being with our friends. One of my favorite things is seeing everyone's morning faces. It's the best, looking like 5 year old sleepyheads. I love our friends and I feel really blessed to have these kind of experiences. These are the moments we will always look back on. Friends, the ocean, good food, music and laughter, what else could you want in life?

Now that the weather is chilled here in Houston we can camp more. We have the goods since we registered for camping gear during our wedding. Where is your favorite place to camp? I'm looking for camping with waterfalls. I know it exists here in Texas so help a gal out.
