MADEWELL x BUENO BUENO

Two weeks ago we got together with Madewell and threw one radical party. The bubbles were flowing, dressing rooms were packed, and friends and laughter filled the shop. I think my favorite part was watching girls coming out of the dressing rooms looking for a yes/no/maybe and receiving help from not only friends, but total strangers. The vibes were good and fun was had.

Thank you to everyone who came out to have a good time, to Micah Bickham for capturing the event,  Sweet Houston for the yummies, and the Houston Madewell Crew for outstanding hospitality.

Side note:
We are stoked to break the silence and get back to all things Bueno. April brought on a few unexpected challenges... To everyone who reached out to us (in text messages, emails, phone calls, in person, etc...), thank you. Truly, with all our guts, thank you.

About Nikou, Travis and the Marfa Wedding Fiesta///
We met in architecture school. He stalked me but he denies it. Both of us have been to Marfa, but only with friends, not together.

Travis really wanted to have the wedding in Marfa, a couple weeks later, I gave in and agreed. We really wanted a low key wedding. We planned the entire event without going there so there were many last minute changes once we arrived a couple days before... like the ceremony site. We had guests travel from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Nashville, LA, NYC, and even Toronto Canada!

With the help from our family and friends, we had a great event. Travis' aunt is a food stylist and was really excited to help with decorations. Travis' father spent months working on the best margarita recipe, now coined the Marfarita. Our mutual friend Cate got ordained so she could marry us. My brother's wife, Amory Tabaee, agreed to do our photography in exchange, Travis designed her website. Our best friend Bridget flew in from NYC and helped with many of the details. And Kelly and Brandi drove us around our entire Honeymoon (our car broke down in Marfa)!

When we arrived to the Compound House, we noticed the awesome abandoned gas station next door. We decided to have the ceremony there, but kept it secret from our family, because we knew our mothers would freak out. The only peoplel who knew were Cate, Amory, Bridget, and us.

We didn't have a bridal party but wanted to include our siblings in the ceremony. Travis and I wrote our own vows, so we decided his sister Carly would hand him his, and my brother Nigel would hand me mine. And his brother Taylor to hand us our rings. But, no one told Taylor he was responsible for the rings! Great moment during the ceremony.

Some other people who helped with our wedding (which is the main reason why it was under $5k): Travis' childhood friend Dustin brought his guitar and played our ceremony music. My cousin Laura assisted Amory with photography.
